Delete account

1. What data is deleted?
When you delete your Splitwo account, the following data is permanently deleted:
- Your profile (name, email, username, avatar photo/emoji, phone number).
- Your saved bank accounts and preferred payment methods.
- Your push notification token.
- Your subscription information (Stripe customer associated with your account).
Expenses and groups you share with other users are anonymized (your name is replaced with "Deleted user") so other members' records aren't affected. Groups belonging only to you are deleted entirely.
2. Delete from the app
The fastest way to delete your account is from inside the app:
- Open Splitwo and sign in.
- Go to Profile → Edit profile.
- Scroll down to "Delete account" and confirm.
Deletion is immediate. There is no recovery window: once confirmed, the data is gone.
3. Request deletion by email
If you cannot access the app (lost phone, forgot password, etc.) you can ask us to delete your account by emailing:
Please include in the email:
- The email associated with your Splitwo account.
- Explicit confirmation that you want to delete the account (we cannot proceed without this).
We process requests within 7 business days. We verify the email matches an existing account before deleting.
4. Retention for legal reasons
Some data may be retained for legal or accounting obligations (e.g., records of payments processed by Stripe). This data is kept only for the minimum time required by applicable law and is not used for any other purpose.
